Garlic is a perennial blooming plant that grows from its own onion. It has a long stem with upright flowers that can grow up to 1 meter. The blade leaf is straight, linear, solid and approximately 12.5 –25 mm wide and pointed. In the Northern Hemisphere, it can bloom from purple to purple from July to September. The onion is fragrant and the outer outer sheath enveloping the innermost sheath surrounding the garlic clove contains the outer layers of the leaves. The onion contains 10-20 females, except the one closest to the center, which is mostly formally asymmetrical.
